International conference “Rebuilding Ukraine: opportunities for Spanish companies.”
On February 2nd, Apercon, together with the Embassy of Ukraine in Spain, took part in organizing the international conference “Rebuilding Ukraine: opportunities for Spanish companies.”
The rebuilding of Ukraine, assistance in infrastructure and educational directions, is one of the important international priorities in military and post-military times, as these directions ensure sustainable growth and consistent reconstruction of the economic and social sphere.
As part of the development of foreign economic and international relations, the group of companies Apercon took part in organizing the invitation of Spanish and Ukrainian investment and government institutions, as well as official persons for the economic development and restoration of Ukraine. At the invitation of the group of companies, the event was attended by the head of the Kharkiv Investment Agency Tetyana Stolyarenko and the mayor of Kharkiv, Igor Terekhov.
Among the speakers and participants of the conference were the leaders of the largest governmental and commercial institutions in Spain. Among the speakers at the event were:
– Sergiy Pogoreltsev, Ambassador of Ukraine in Spain;
– Hugh Elliot – Ambassador of the United Kingdom in Spain;
– Ricardo Lopez-Aranda, Ambassador of Spain in Ukraine;
– Alicia Varela – Director General of Trade and Economics, Ministry of Economy of Spain;
– Matteo Patrone, Managing Director, EBRD Eastern Europe;
– Miguel Tiana – CEO of Confides;
– Igor Terekhov, Mayor of Kharkiv;
– Paloma Baena – Director of European Affairs at LLYC.
The Mayor of Kharkiv, Igor Terekhov, emphasized the need to continue support for Ukraine by international partners and invited leading Spanish institutions to cooperate in the field of rebuilding damaged infrastructure.
According to him, the city can offer profitable strategies and investment projects in various directions, as it already has a comprehensive plan for recovery. This includes the development of transportation infrastructure, housing construction, and the implementation of projects in the energy and ecology sectors.
“We are developing the General Plan of the city together with the British architect Norman Foster. We have a great scientific and personnel potential and are open to transparent and honest cooperation. And today, not a single project, for the implementation of which we agreed before the war with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the European Investment Bank, or other banks, has been stopped. Already this year, we will build two new metro stations and renew the public transport fleet,” Igor Terekhov stated in his speech.
According to representatives of Spanish governmental organizations, the efforts of the international community are aimed at supporting the protection and restoration of Ukraine. During the conference, agreements were reached for the visit of the State Secretary of the Ministry of Economy, Xiana Mendes, along with representatives of the Spanish business commu nity to Ukraine in March of this year, which will be another step towards strengthening Ukrainian-Spanish relations and the development of investment management.
“The support of the international community today is one of the most important factors affecting social stability, the speed, and the quality of the country and city’s recovery. We already have successful innovative cases in our portfolio that meet the challenges of our time, such as the ‘Underground School,’ and we are ready to share our experience and expertise, inviting our European partners to cooperate in investments in infrastructure, educational, and food directions,” commented Tetyana Stolyarenko, the head of the Kharkiv Investment Agency.
We express our gratitude to the Deputy Ambassador of Ukraine in Spain for Economic Affairs, Igor Ivanchenko, for his contribution and support in the development of international economic relations.
