The project was founded by:
Tereza de Souza , a professional athlete and BJJ black belt competitor, one of the key organizers working behind the scenes to bring the camp to life,
and Max Carvalho, a highly respected 4th-degree black belt, Vice President of the international ZR Team Association, and one of the key mentors behind the development of BJJ schools across Europe.
It was under his leadership that Brazilian jiu-jitsu began its rapid expansion across Europe in 2004. Today, BJJ is not only a globally respected grappling art but also the foundation for many modern combat sports disciplines — including MMA and major platforms such as the UFC.
Balaton BJJ Summer Camp is a premier event, gathering practitioners from more than 50 countries. With over 5,000 attendees, more than 100 honorary guests, a vibrant multinational community, and an extraordinary lakeside setting — the camp stands as the epicenter of the European BJJ scene.
